What makes Occident's transport insurance different from the others
If you are a goods transporter or a transport or logistics company, our Transporter Company goods transport insurance policy covers your liability and the material damage that may be caused to the goods of third parties that you transport nationally and internationally.
Categories of Carrier insurance
A comprehensive form of transport insurance featuring annual coverage on the basis of the policyholder's freight turnover and the type of goods transported. This entails payment of a deposit premium that is adjusted at the end of the year.
A type of insurance that covers the transport company for one year for damage suffered by goods owned by third parties and transported in specific vehicles identified by their registration number in the policy.
What our transport insurance covers
It covers direct material damage to the goods transported as a result of:
- Fire, lightning and explosion.
- Accident of the means of transport.
- Damage caused by extraordinary natural phenomena.
- Robbery carried out by gangs and armed robbery.
- Total loss of the vessel.
- Contribution to the general average.
- Salvage costs.
- Damage due to simple or specific damage when caused by shipwreck, fire, stranding or collision.
This is the Institute Cargo Clause (A) of the Institute of London Underwriters for Transport, which is commonly agreed on an international trade level. It is broad optional coverage for goods in the event of damp, spillages, breakages, loss or lack of entire or partial packages, theft, damages during loading and unloading, among other cases.
Apart from the above covers, in the event of transportation by sea, it grants cover against all accidental perils of the sea, jettisoning and dragging overboard by waves and fire and theft in transshipment or destination ports.
We guarantee contractual liability in the event of damage to the goods being transported, both domestically and internationally, in compliance with the provisions of the Law on the Contract for the Transport of Goods by Land (LCTTM) at national level or the Convention on the Carriage of Goods by Road (CMR) relating to the Contract for the International Carriage of Goods by Road, as applicable.
The transport insurance covers the risk of breakage and damage to the insured goods, occurring during loading or unloading operations to or from the carrier vehicle when carried out by the insured party.
It covers the risk of total or partial theft of the insured goods, meaning any theft by a person external to the insured goods, which involves the violation or breach of the barrier or protection that separates said person from the stolen goods.
This coverage has exclusions and/or limitations to prevent fraud or negligence.
It covers the risk of breakage and damage to the insured goods provided that this is not caused as a result of poor stowage, inadequate stowage, defective lashing or insufficient or inadequate packaging or packing containing the goods.
It covers the costs of removing and/or destroying the remains of the insured goods resulting from losses caused by any of the risks covered by the policy.
